Field recordings with the KO II sampler capture urban soundscapes in real-time - traffic patterns, human voices, infrastructure noise, ambient frequencies. These recordings become source material for synthesis work, transforming documented sound back into new sonic compositions. The city heard, processed, performed back to itself. Visual aphorisms translate complex concepts into minimal geometric form - distilling weeks of observation into single diagrams. Written blog posts provide analytical frameworks and theoretical context. Each documentation stream operates independently but also refers to the others. You can enter the investigation through any sensory mode and find pathways to the others.
The synthesis work transforms these recordings from documentation into composition. Taking the sound of Banjica morning traffic and processing it through the KO II creates something that's both artefact and artwork - it's made from actual Belgrade but no longer sounds like "field recording." The city becomes source material for understanding how urban sound can be both captured and transformed. Synaesthesia doesn't claim to create "total" urban documentation by using multiple senses. Instead, it investigates the impossibility of complete documentation. Every mode is partial. Every sense misses something. The project makes these gaps explicit by attempting translations that inevitably fail in interesting ways. The result is layered documentation that doesn't claim to capture everything but honestly shows what each mode captures. Visual evidence. Sonic evidence. Written analysis. Synthesised interpretation.
